With CallisonRTKL - Central Plaza are two residential towers replacing an existing 2 story parking structure. Compromising 640 units total the project will substantially contribute to the burgeoning Koreatown population. Located less than 1,500 ft from a metro station it is envisioned that along with an improved retail paseo the project will become a destination activated at all times of the day. The forms of the tower are mirrored but at 90 degrees to one another, to not only maximize the visual identity on the skyline but also create economies of scale for the client. Larger studio units of around 800 sf make up most of the project (69% mix) create flexibility for future live/work tenants whilst also reducing the need for city prescribed parking requirements.

 

Ground floor retail, and BOH programming such as bike storage, leasing office coupled with a high attention to detail on the parking façade helped appease vocal neighborhood communities.
